If eyes are windows to the soul, then lashes are the curtains that frame them. Whether you want natural, dramatic or everything in between, we have several services that are available to suit your lash needs.
WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Lash extensions are custom made from synthetic silk or mink hair. They are carefully and precisely attached to each individual lash ( not your skin ). Once applied, the lashes are natural looking and virtually weightless. Different looks can be achieved with various curls, thickness and length options. That is why we offer classic and volume styles, classic is more natural and uses one individual extension per eyelash where as volume gives you a boost of fullness with the ability to apply up to 10 extensions per eyelash. Amount of extensions used will depend on preference but more importantly what your natural eyelashes can handle. The technician will discuss with you what options you have after assessing your natural eyelashes.
HOW LONG WILL THESE EYELASH EXTENSIONS LAST?
Eyelash extensions will stay on your natural lashes for the remaining life of your lash cycle when applied correctly. Your eyelash extensions will fall out with your natural lash and permanence will depend on how well they are maintained. In essence, the lash extensions can last up to 2 full months with proper care and monthly maintenance from a professional. However, factors such as eyelash characteristics, your lifestyle and general care will play a strong role in the life of your lash extensions ( i.e., clients who have oily skin may be more prone to lashes shedding quicker ). There is no guarantee of how long a set or fill will last as there is no way of knowing your lash cycle.
WHY DO I NEED TO COME FOR FILLS?
Your natural eyelash growth cycle is between 30 and 120 days. All of your eyelashes do not fall out at the same time, they replenish gradually day by day and can shed at any given time. You may lose 2 or 3 lashes per day immediately or it may take a couple weeks. Every fill will vary and depending where you are on your lash cycle it may be more full one time and less full another time. Time in between fills will also vary between classic and volume. With classic lashes, fills are needed more frequently as there are less extensions applied compared to volume. Classic fills may be between 1-2 weeks and Volume between 2-4 weeks. If you come back with less than 30 percent retention, it will be considered a new set.
HOW LONG DOES THE APPOINTMENT TAKE?
Times may vary depending on the type of style you choose. New sets can range from 1 and a half to 3 hours, fills can take 45 minutes to 1 and a half hours.
ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGING TO MY NATURAL EYELASHES?
No not at all! Eyelash extensions adhesive is formulated to create a polypeptide bond, specifically for human lashes. The adhesive dries very soft and instantly, allowing the lashes to stay flexible and weightless just like your natural lashes. Face Amor lashes will adhere to the lashes softly and comfortably while not damaging your natural lashes.
CAN I WEAR MASCARA WITH MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Mascara is simply not necessary but if you are feel it is necessary please use oil free products.
ARE THE EYELASHES REMOVABLE?
Yes, at any time for any reason with the use of Face Amor's professional gel remover we can remove the eyelash extensions without damaging your natural ones. Please do not attempt to remove the lashes on your own as it can cause major damage and pull out your natural ones.
CAN I GET THE EYELASHES WET?
After your initial application or your fill we recommend to keep your lashes dry for at least 24 - 48 hours to ensure the adhesive sets and bonds completely. After this time frame you can continue your daily routine as normal. Keep in mind hot yoga, saunas and anything with steam will break down the bond of the adhesive quicker.
WHAT IF I HAVE SENSITIVE EYES OR ALLERGIES?
We may patch test adhesive on your skin or apply one lash to your eyes and send you home to see if you have any reactions within a few days. Based on that you can decide if you would like to go forward with the full application.
WILL MAKEUP AFFECT MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
No but less is always more. With eyelash extensions you have to be careful when removing make up around the eye as you can risk pulling out eyelashes. If you are using makeup please use oil free products.
CAN I USE EYELASH CURLERS?
Mechanical eyelash curlers are not recommended as they can damage the eyelash extensions. You may get a semi permanent eyelash curl before a new set but keep in mind you will not be able to get them redone in between fills.
WHO ARE NOT CANDIDATES?
- Clients who are prone to rubbing their eyes, pulling or twisting their eyelashes or not able to follow after care instructions.
- Have pre-existing eye conditions such as pink eye or stye.
- If you use very heavy makeup such as eyeliner or mascara
- Oily skin may contribute to eyelashes shedding quicker
HOW TO PREPARE FOR APPOINTMENT
We encourage clients to come make up free to appointment. If you do not, the amount of time taken to remove any eye makeup will be deducted from application. Please refrain from using any oily products on or around the eye area within 24 hours.
HOW TO PROPERLY MAINTAIN YOUR EYELASH EXTENSIONS
- Avoid using any oil based make up products
- Try to not get lashes wet for 24-48 hours
- Do not pick or pull on eyelash extensions
- Do not use WATERPROOF or OIL based makeup products
- Do not rub eyelash extensions
- Avoid extreme heat, sweat and saunas
- Clean lashes daily with a gentle cleanser (with baby shampoo & water mixed together use the ring finger and gently massage the mixture along the lash line and splash with warm water to cleanse, pat to dry and let air dry, after its dry brush with mascara wand to separate extensions )
- Sleep on your back. Silk pillow cases are great to use when wearing eyelash extensions as it doesn’t pull on the lashes (you will lose more lashes on whichever side you sleep on most)
- Morning & night, twice a day; brush your lashes, so they don’t stray (brushing too much can pull out natural lashes)
